Things Your Children Should Know About Skincare

Having healthy skin is essential for a person’s well-being, no matter what age. That's why it’s never too early to teach your child healthy skin habits--it’s a crucial part of everyday life! Here are some basic skincare knowledge your kids should know.
It's non-negotiable to clean the face before going to bed

This is a habit that must be developed while they're still young. If they don't wash their face every night, they are going to sleep with dirt, bacteria, and germs lingering on their faces. This is bad news because children's skin is particularly sensitive to these. To encourage them, you can create a chart for your children where they have to mark off each night when they wash their face and brush their teeth. Each week that they clean their face every night, they can have a certain treat or privilege.
Don't pop the zit
They're curious and love doing anything prohibited. It's like their second nature. So what do kids going through puberty do when they see acne growing on their face? They will most likely not leave it alone. It's your role then to remind them that picking at acne or scabs will lead to scarring that they could carry with them into adulthood. To help children cope with acne and stop picking, you can have them wear bandages on their faces or clothing that covers scabbing so they will not be tempted to pick at them.
Sunscreen is your BFF
If your children love the great outdoors and  spend a lot of time in direct sunlight, it's fine not to deprive them from all the fun as long as they are wearing enough sunscreen. Wearing sunscreen helps to prevent sunburns and sun damage to their skin as they age. For proper sunscreen usage, you should apply it 15 minutes before activities begin and reapply every 2 hours—unless they are wet or sweaty which means it should be reapplied more frequently. Also be mindful of the kind of sunscreen you apply. Make sure it doesn't contain any toxin ingredients.
Use gentle skincare products
Because their skin is particularly sensitive, children should use skincare products that are gentle and free of dyes, fragrances, and unnecessary toxins. In doing so, they will avoid harsh ingredients that irritate their skin. Young as they are, it's important to teach them to choose skincare based on ingredients and quality.
